Ukrainian President "gets enough" after showing off photoshopped photos

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has unintentionally sparked a meme war in Russia after posting a doctored magazine cover on Twitter.

On Twitter, Mr. Poroshenko posted a doctored image of the cover of the Economist magazine, showing him and world leaders. In fact, the original cover of the Economist World Edition in 2016, in Mr. Poroshenko’s place, was Russian President Vladimir Putin.

However, the knockoff has been pushed to the future – 2017. The Ukrainian president stood between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and British Prime Minister David Cameron. On Twitter, Mr. Poroshenko said it was a gift from his government.

After appearing, the edited photo of President Poroshenko created a photo editing storm in Russia. Many Russians used the image of the former Ukrainian chocolate tycoon to paste onto the covers of other magazines.

Mr Poroshenko was even photoshopped onto the surface of the Moon.

The Ukrainian president later deleted the doctored photo, though it appeared too late. Hours later, his administration said the photo was a joke and that it “should be viewed from the perspective of Ukraine trying to find its place in the world.” At the same time, Poroshenko’s administration accused Russian media of “seeing it as a threat to Russia’s geopolitical position.”
