Ukrainian President Zelensky makes deals with billionaires to invest huge sums in rebuilding Donbass

According to Europe Emerging Europe, President Volodymyr Zelensky has reached an agreement with billionaire Igor Kolomoisky - former owner of PrivatBank, Mr. Rinat Akhmetov - the richest man in Ukraine and Mr. Victor Pinchuk - owner of investment and media funds, on the economic integration of the Donbass region into the eastern region of Ukraine.

Previously, Ukraine cut off electricity to Donbass, helping the East to secede and establish a state.

“The issue of providing housing for the families of 24 Ukrainian sailors detained by Russia after the incident in the Kerch Strait is being resolved in cooperation with Victor Pinchuk. In the future, he will resolve the issues of social assistance for all military personnel,” President Zelensky said at a meeting with the Kiev business community.

Mr Zelensky added that Mr Akhmetov would supply medicine to hospitals in eastern Ukraine and take part in rebuilding infrastructure in Donbass, while Mr Kolomoisky was also invited to invest huge sums of money in infrastructure projects.

Calling on business leaders to invest in Donbass, President Zelensky said the government would not wait for the end of the war. “We have already started this work. In the territories of Donbass controlled by Ukraine, we must clearly demonstrate the advantages of living in a good, free and independent Ukraine to those who are forced to stay in temporarily occupied territories,” Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian president added that foreign businesses from France and Germany are also ready to support the reconstruction of Donbass.
