Venezuelan President talks about visiting Russia, meeting with Mr. Putin
Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro expressed hope to visit Moscow between April and June 2021 and meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Sputnik reported on this.
“I hope that in April, May or June, I will be able to visit Moscow to celebrate with our friend, President Vladimir Putin,” Maduro said during a meeting with a Russian delegation to observe the country’s parliamentary elections.
He also expressed confidence that members of the new parliament will soon visit Moscow.

On December 6, Venezuela held parliamentary elections. Venezuelan citizen Nicolas Maduro regained control of the National Assembly. According to the latest vote count, the “Great Patriotic Bloc” coalition, led by the Socialist Party and supporting the President, won 67.7% of the vote. The opposition does not intend to recognize the election results.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called the elections in Venezuela transparent and democratic. According to her, international observers, including those from Russia, did not detect any serious violations during the voting process.
