"I think we saved bipartisan support for Ukraine," Zelensky said in an interview with Fox News Live, when asked about his biggest accomplishment at the end of the trip.

Asked about his meetings with President Biden, Vice President Harris and former President Trump, President Zelensky did not specify whether he had received any assurances that Ukraine would soon be granted permission to use long-range weapons to strike deeper into Russia.

However, he stressed the importance of Ukraine receiving permission from the US and pointed out the US influence on the policies of other countries on this issue.

“We need it very much,” Mr Zelensky said of the licensing. “We had consultations with the French team. Before meeting with the US, we also had consultations with the UK team. And we had consultations with the US, which is the biggest supporter and decision maker in this.”

“Because all the European countries, our partners, they are very good, but they really understand who makes the decisions in this,” Mr. Zelensky said, referring to the United States. “In this case, they look straight at Washington.”

Mr Zelensky was in the US last week to attend the UN General Assembly. He met with Mr Biden and Ms Harris on September 26 at the White House, with the US government announcing about $8 billion in military aid to Kiev that same day.

Mr Zelensky also met on September 27 with Mr Trump, who has repeatedly expressed skepticism about US aid to Ukraine.

Before the meeting at Trump Tower in New York, Mr. Trump and Mr. Zelensky spoke briefly to the press, in which Mr. Trump praised his relationship with Mr. Zelensky, as well as with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and said he could quickly mediate to end the war.

“We’re going to be working very hard with both sides to try to resolve this,” Mr Trump told reporters as he stood alongside Mr Zelensky.

"We have a very good relationship, and I have a very good relationship — as you know — with President Putin. And I think if we win, I think we'll solve this problem very quickly," Trump added.

"I hope we will have much better relations," Mr. Zelensky continued.

“Oh, I understand,” Mr. Trump replied. “But you know, it takes two to tango. And we’re going to have a good meeting today. I think the fact that we’re here together today is a very good sign.”
