President Zelensky talks about the conditions under which the US can end the conflict in Ukraine in 5 minutes

In an interview with ABC News, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that US leader Joe Biden could end the Russia-Ukraine conflict in five minutes if Kiev gave up territories under Russian control. However, according to Mr. Zelensky, the Ukrainian leadership will not take such a step.

Commenting on former US President Donald Trump’s statement that he could end the Russia-Ukraine conflict within a day, Zelensky said that this wish “should be based on real life experience.” Zelensky recalled that Trump “had those 24 hours” when he was US President for the 2017-2021 term. According to Zelensky, during this period, Ukraine was “in a state of war.”

“Mr. Trump had time to do that, but he certainly had other priorities,” said Ukrainian President Zelensky.

On May 11, former US President Donald Trump said that this is not the time to blame Russian President Vladimir Putin for launching a special military operation in Ukraine. According to Mr. Trump, if the Russian President is blamed, it will be more difficult to prevent the conflict, because Mr. Putin "will fight much harder." At the same time, Mr. Trump once again reiterated that he could stop hostilities in just one day, if he were the US president. He will meet with both President Putin and President Zelensky.

Mr. Zelensky also said that President Joe Biden could end the conflict in five minutes, at the “cost of Ukraine,” forcing Kiev to give up territory. However, the Ukrainian leadership will not agree to this condition.

According to the Ukrainian President, the conflict should end with “justice and peace”. He explained that the end of the hot phase and the end of the conflict does not mean the war has stopped completely. It is important for Kiev now to maintain US support after the election, because now, according to Mr. Zelensky, there are “dangerous signals” from some US politicians about cutting aid to Ukraine.
