UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon wins Seoul Peace Prize
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon was elected the winner of the Peace Prize on June 12.
The organizers said Mr. Ban was chosen for his contributions to promoting women's and children's rights, as well as his efforts to reduce poverty in developing countries and promote democracy in the Middle East.

Mr. Ban is the first South Korean to receive the biennial award, which was established in 1990 to celebrate the success of the 1988 Seoul Summer Olympics.
Mr. Ban, who is currently serving as Secretary-General of the United Nations after being elected in 2011, is the 11th person to receive the Peace Prize.
Previous winners include Mr Ban's predecessor, former Secretary General Kofi Annan, the late IOC president Juan Antonio Samaranch, and Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus.
