Toyota Hilux 2015 price 693 million in Vietnam

The new generation pickup truck – Hilux 2015 – was launched in Hanoi on the afternoon of October 5 with strong improvements in exterior, comfort and safety. The retail price after tax of the vehicle starts at 693 million VND, 43 million VND higher than before.

Because it was imported completely from Thailand, the 2015 Hilux arrived in Vietnam quite quickly, only 5 months after the car was first launched in the world, also in this country of a million elephants.

With overall dimensions of 5,330 x 1,855 x 1,815 mm (length x width x height), the 2015 Hilux is 70 and 20 mm longer and wider, respectively, but 45 mm lower than before. The wheelbase remains at 3,085 mm; ground clearance increases by 64 mm to 286 mm, significantly improving the ability to adapt to difficult terrain conditions.

Carrying the design of a new generation of pickup trucks, the 2015 Hilux is considered to be more youthful, modern, and more convenient than the previous generation, aiming to be used for both work and personal purposes. The front lights are seamlessly designed with a 3-bar grille extending to both sides; the large and thick front bumper along with the air vents creates a strong trapezoid shape, with two round fog lights in the trapezoid cavity creating a complete design for the front of the vehicle in a more modern and stylish direction.

A series of modern features are integrated into the front light cluster but only available on the highest-end version 3.0 G AT including daytime running lights and low beam lights in the form of projectors, LED; automatic beam angle adjustment. The automatic on/off headlight feature and the guide light are available on both the 3.0G AT and MT versions.

According to Toyota, the car has been improved in many details to have better aerodynamics than many previous generations; in particular, Hilux is Toyota's first pickup truck equipped with wind deflectors on both the front and rear wheels. Rearview mirrors with integrated LED turn signals, electric adjustment and electric folding for all 3 versions; high-mounted brake lights; heated rear windows...

Although the wheelbase remains the same, the interior of the Hilux has been redesigned with many amenities, of which the most advanced version focuses the most, including features that competitors do not have such as smart key and push-button start; engine immobilizer; leather seats, 8-way power driver's seat. The 3.0 engine versions have automatic air conditioning, rear seat vents; 1-disc CD player with 6 speakers, 4.2-inch TFT screen; steering wheel with integrated audio control, hands-free calling.

The most regrettable point of Hilux 2015 in Vietnam is that the car still uses 2 diesel engines 3.0 liters and 2.5 liters similar to the previous generation, while the world market and even the place of export to Vietnam, Thailand, have 2.8 liters and 2.4 liters engines that are more powerful but more fuel-efficient. Some people think that for this reason, Toyota calls this new generation Hilux 2015 when it comes to Vietnam, while in Thailand and many other markets it is called Hilux 2016.

The interior has a range of modern amenities

Specifically, the car still uses a 3.0-liter engine coded 1KD-FTV with a capacity of 161 horsepower at 3,400 rpm; torque of 360 Nm at 1,600-3,000 rpm with automatic transmission (5-speed) and 343 Nm at 1,400-3,200 rpm with manual transmission (6-speed). In addition, the standard version uses a 2.5-liter engine coded 2KD-FTV with a capacity of 142 horsepower at 3,400 rpm, torque of 343 Nm at 1,600-2,800 rpm.

Meanwhile, in Thailand, the 2015 Hilux is equipped with a 2.8-liter engine that produces 177 horsepower at 3,400 rpm and a maximum torque of 450 Nm at 1,600-2,400 rpm when paired with a new 6-speed automatic transmission; while the maximum torque is 420 Nm at 1,400-2,600 rpm when paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The 2.4-liter engine produces 150 horsepower at 3,400 rpm and a torque of 400 Nm at 1,600-2,000 rpm in the 6-speed automatic transmission, and 343 Nm at 1,400-2,800 rpm in the 5-speed manual transmission.

Old engines due to fuel and exhaust barriers

According to Toyota Vietnam representative, the two new generation engines above require fuel to meet Euro 4 standards, which Vietnam has only applied to fuel since January 1, 2016 and to cars since January 1, 2017, so the new generation Hilux in Vietnam cannot use this superior new engine.

Hilux 2015 in Vietnam has 3 versions: 3.0G 4x4 AT, 3.0G 4x4 MT and 2.5E 4x2 MT, in which the 3.0 version uses 2-wheel drive, has electronic gear mode and rear differential lock. The chassis and suspension systems are also improved.

Standard safety equipment for all 3 vehicles includes ABS anti-lock braking, EBD electronic brake force distribution, BA emergency braking. The highest-end version 3.0G AT integrates the most advanced features such as electronic balance integrated with trailer stability control (VSC and TSC); Active traction control system A - TRC controls traction on all wheels in all situations, hill start assist system (HAC) and emergency brake warning system (EBS). Hilux 2.5E MT and 3.0G MT are equipped with 3 airbags (2 front airbags; 1 driver's knee airbag) while Hilux 3.0G AT has 7 airbags (2 front airbags; 1 driver's knee airbag; 2 front side airbags; 2 curtain airbags).

New Hilux will compete for second place with BT-50

Hilux 2.5E MT has a post-tax price of 693 million VND, an increase of 43 million VND compared to before; 3.0G MT is priced at 809 million VND, an increase of 59 million VND. The completely new version 3.0G AT is priced at 877 million VND. The car has 4 colors: silver, black, dark gray and metallic orange.

Toyota's target is to sell 300 new Hiluxes a month, below the average of recent top rival Ford Ranger and on par with the Mazda BT-50.
