Japanese car company Toyota has just been rated as the world's most valuable car brand in 2016, with a value of more than 56 billion USD.

With a brand value of up to 56 billion USD, Toyota has defeated many other major car manufacturers such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Ford... to become the most valuable car brand on the planet this year.

Toyota ranked 5th in the list of 100 most valuable brands in the world (Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands 2016), just behind the "giants" Apple, Google, Coca-Cola and Microsoft.

The Japanese automaker beat out some big names like IBM, Samsung and Amazon to take the number five spot on the list.

In the automotive industry alone, the second most valuable brand after Toyota is German brand Mercedes-Benz with $43.49 billion. In the entire industry, Mercedes-Benz ranks ninth in brand value.

The third place in the automotive industry also belongs to the German automaker - BMW, with a brand value of 41.535 billion USD. In addition, BMW is also ranked 11th in the entire industry, higher than McDonald's, Disney, Intel, Facebook and Nike.

Honda ranked 21st on the industry-wide list with a brand value of $22.106 billion, down 4% but still higher than Pepsi, Ikea and Zara. In the automotive industry alone, Honda ranked 4th.
