In the first batch, about 30 outstanding farmers were sent to Korea to learn about agricultural production and new rural construction.

According to the project, in the 2014 - 2018 period, about 100 - 125 managers and farmers will be sent to study experience, management methods and techniques in countries with strengths in high-tech agriculture such as Thailand, Korea, Malaysia and China.

In addition to visiting effective agricultural models of other countries, farmers and agricultural managers also participate in agricultural product trade promotion activities. The total budget for implementing the project is nearly 5 billion VND, aiming to develop high-quality agricultural human resources, contributing to the sustainable development of the city's agriculture.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phung, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Farmers’ Association, said: “The project of sending farmers to study abroad will help farmers acquire good experiences and knowledge to apply in production, helping the city’s new rural development program to be successful. With this model, city farmers will gradually integrate with farmers across the country and the region.”
