Ho Chi Minh City: Busting a ladies casino
On the afternoon of September 26, the Department of Investigation Police on Social Order Crimes (PC45) of Ho Chi Minh City Police said it had handed over 25 suspects and evidence of the gambling case to Tan Binh District Police for investigation according to their authority.
"Monster" Ly Thi Hue
According to the case file, at around 3:30 p.m. on September 25, detectives from Team 5 (PC45) suddenly raided house number 52/15/13 Nguyen Sy Sach Street, Ward 15, Tan Binh District, arresting 25 subjects (mostly women) with evidence including: 58 million VND, 19 mobile phones of various types...
It is known that this casino was organized by "female monster" Ly Thi Hue (aka Le, born in 1967, residing at 15/15 Nguyen Sy Sach Street, Ward 15, Tan Binh District), operating from the end of August 2012 until now. Every day, this casino gambles from 12 noon to 8 pm, with about 20 to 25 thirsty gamblers gambling, with the winning and losing levels ranging from 100,000 VND to 500,000 VND.
Hue confessed that she had previously rented 154/31/10/1, Pham Van Bach Street, Ward 15, Tan Binh District to organize a casino, but because this location was outside the main road and easy to detect, Hue changed the location. Accordingly, Hue rented a larger house at 52/15/13 Nguyen Sy Sach Street, Ward 15, Tan Binh District to set up an "underground" casino, but it was destroyed by the police.
The gamblers said that Hue was the one who organized this casino, but the person who acted as the dealer and won or lost with the gamblers was Nguyen Thi Tam (born in 1946, residing on Cong Lo Street, Ward 15, Tan Binh District, commonly known as Xi). When participating in gambling, gamblers had to pay Hue 50,000 VND to "rent the premises", and the winner got 100,000 VND/game. With this way of operating, Hue illegally earned from the gamblers from 1.2 to 1.5 million VND every day.
The case is currently being investigated by the authorities.
