Ho Chi Minh City requests to build national salt reserve
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just proposed to the Ministry of Finance to allow the construction of a national salt reserve in Can Gio district with an area of 3 hectares, with a capacity of 15,000 to 20,000 tons, to help stabilize salt prices on the market.
Ho Chi Minh City has a salt production area of more than 1,500 hectares, ranking third in the country. The construction of a national salt storage will help the city buy and store a large amount of salt during times when salt farmers have a good harvest but the price is low.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first three months of 2014, the amount of salt in stock reached nearly 110,000 tons. The price of hand-produced salt fluctuates from 1,000 to 1,500 VND/kg depending on the time.
