Vinh City: Melaleuca tree uprooted, fell on pedestrian
(Baonghean.vn) - While driving on Phan Dang Luu Street (Vinh City), a woman was crushed by a fallen tree.
At around 6pm on July 9, a cajuput tree planted on the sidewalk opposite the Saigon - Nghe Tinh Brewery suddenly fell down and landed on Phan Dang Luu Street. At that time, a woman riding a motorbike was crushed by the tree branches.
“It was rush hour, with many cars passing by. However, some cars were lucky not to be hit,” said Nguyen Thi Hang, a witness to the incident.

Locals then lifted the tree branch and removed the vehicle and the woman from the scene. Fortunately, she only suffered minor injuries. The incident caused traffic chaos.

According to observations, the Melaleuca tree, 30 cm in diameter and over 15 m high, fell down and occupied almost the entire Phan Dang Luu street. The tree stump was uprooted, leaving only a few roots. “Immediately after that, we called the tree company but almost an hour later they still did not arrive. There was no wind when the tree fell,” Ms. Hang added.

Speaking to Nghe An Newspaper reporter, Mr. Phan Xuan Bao - Director of Vinh City Green Park Joint Stock Company said that the unit has not received this information yet. "We will send our colleagues right away" - Mr. Bao said and informed that, for a long time now, there have been occasional cases of falling trees in Vinh City, however, there have been no cases of pedestrians being injured./.
