Vinh City: Meeting with war veterans and youth volunteers during the resistance war against France
(Baonghean.vn) - On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2014), Vinh City organized a meeting with war veterans and former Youth Volunteers during the resistance war against France. 130 outstanding comrades representing military officers, soldiers, and youth volunteers during the resistance war against France who are living in the area attended.
After a warm welcome from the representative of Vinh City's leadership, on behalf of the veterans, Mr. Nguyen Canh Thin, 87 years old, who participated in the fierce battle on A1 Hill on May 6, 1954, recounted the developments of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, the balance of forces on both sides and the iron determination of our troops as well as the spirit of our troops on the Victory Day of May 7, 1954. Mr. Thai Van Tuan, currently living in Trung Do Ward, on behalf of the former Youth Volunteers, recalled the days and nights of road construction, ambulance transport, food transportation, and mine clearance on Pha Din Pass, Lung Lo Pass, Chen Pass, and especially at the "bomb pocket" of Nga Ba Co Noi to ensure the safety of the troops going to the front.

Speaking at the meeting, representatives of the city's youth expressed their gratitude to the generations of fathers and grandfathers who did not hesitate to sacrifice hardships to fight the enemy to save the country, creating a "Golden History of Dien Bien" for the country to develop as it is today. The youth of Vinh city promised to study hard, cultivate morality and talent to contribute to the country and homeland; worthy of the sacrifices and contributions of the war veterans and former Youth Volunteers present today as well as previous generations of fathers and brothers.
