Vinh City held a rally to celebrate the 30th anniversary of International Day of Persons with Disabilities

(Baonghean.vn) -To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3, 1982 - December 3, 2012), this afternoon, November 30, in Vinh City, the City Association for the Protection of Disabled People and Orphans held a rally to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The speech at the rally stated that since December 3, 1982, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the World Programme on Disabled Persons. Disabled people around the world in general and in the country, in the province, in Vinh city in particular, from being subjects in need of help and care from society, have risen up on their own and been recognized for their equal rights in society.

Currently, in Vinh city, there are about 4,000 disabled people. In recent times, with the attention of all levels, sectors and the social community, the Association for the Protection of Disabled People and Orphans of Vinh city has actively cared for and become a reliable support for disabled people, a bridge between the hearts of the community for disabled people, creating conditions for disabled people to overcome their inferiority complex, become self-reliant and confidently integrate into the community.

This year's rally to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities once again calls on the whole society to join hands to help and support people with disabilities and orphans to have a solid spiritual support, creating all conditions for people with disabilities to rise up and assert themselves in life.

At the Ceremony, the Association for the Support of Disabled People and Orphans of Vinh City also awarded prizes for the contest "Learning about disabled people in Vinh City for the 2nd time" and presented 25 gifts to disabled people with special difficulties.
