Accordingly, in the period 2014-2017, the growth rate of Vinh city's production value reached 10.66%/year. The added value per capita in 2016 reached more than 68 million VND, 2.4 times higher than the average of the province, the poverty rate was only 0.63%.

The city's economic structure has shifted positively, with the service sector accounting for a large proportion, reaching nearly 67% in 2016 and continuing to increase in total added value, becoming the driving force for the city's development.

Budget revenue in the area has grown quite well and is relatively stable, the growth rate for the whole period reached 19.71%/year, accounting for 33.6% of the total annual budget revenue in Nghe An province.
