According to the plan, in September 2012, the dossier of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex as a World Natural Heritage will be submitted to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Among the criteria set by UNESCO, Trang An meets 2 criteria, which are criterion 7 on geological and geomorphological value and criterion 9 on aesthetic value.
Trang An eco-tourism area, stretching over an area of 2,168 hectares, has long been considered "Ha Long Bay on land". The limestone mountains have steep cliffs combined with regular or seasonal flooded depressions. On the other hand, it is home to many water caves, so Trang An converges many different microclimates, creating a rare, magical and lyrical space. The terrestrial ecosystem marks the existence of about 600 species of plants and 200 species of animals. Some species are listed in the Vietnam Red Book.
In 2011, 3.6 million tourists visited Ninh Binh, revenue from tourism services reached 730 billion VND. This number will increase to 4 million visitors in 2012, striving for a 20% increase in revenue compared to the same period last year. To do this, the province promotes human resource training, diversifies promotional activities, builds unique tourism products with local characteristics combined with maintaining security and order at famous landscapes, historical and cultural relics in the area, not causing trouble for tourists.
