When embroidering, the imagination of Mong women is quite rich, they do not have a model but still embroider beautiful patterns. Along with the skirt and belt, the Mong women's costume also includes a lu so shirt made of traditional linen or light-colored silk. The shirt has a short, stiff round neck, stiffer than a man's collar. The front flap is usually about 10cm longer than the back flap. The sleeves are usually small, with a different colored fabric border and embroidered patterns at the elbows. At the end of the sleeve, there is a piece of fabric of a different color inside, with 2 pieces of fabric about 3cm wide, red or yellow, placed in front of the shirt flap. Behind the collar is attached a square piece of fabric called a so stone, embroidered with patterns, decorated in layers, with meticulous borders, and very beautiful colorful colors.
The waist scarves also come in 3 different colors, each about 1.2 to 1.5 meters long, about 20 to 30 centimeters wide, including 3 colors: blue, red, and yellow. These scarves are usually made of thin fabric like silk, with tassels at both ends and can be embroidered with elaborate patterns and decorations.
Mong women often wrap a very long mahogany-colored scarf (dong pua) on their heads. The scarf is wrapped quite intricately in many layers. Outside and between the layers, people often wrap a strip of white cloth.
The traditional costumes of Mong women are very unique, elaborate, and colorful, expressing the desire to surpass the colors of nature, to honor and affirm the beauty of people, and still retain their identity despite many changes in life.
