Avoid motorbikes and trucks crashing into canals

(Baonghean.vn) - At around 12:30 noon on November 1, a truck carrying bricks avoided a motorbike crossing the road and plunged straight into a canal in Hung Tay commune (Hung Nguyen district).

Some witnesses at the scene said the truck with license plate 37C-126.58 (driver's identity unknown) was traveling on the Vinh City bypass in the North-South direction.

When the truck reached the intersection between Vinh City bypass and Hung Tay inter-commune road, it encountered a motorbike with license plate 37N1-502.96 crossing the road. The truck driver had to steer to the right side of the road to avoid an accident.

The truck knocked down a eucalyptus tree on the side of the road and plunged straight into the Tay 1 canal. The people on the motorbike, Nguyen Thi Ngoc (born in 1998), Nguyen Thi Hoai (born in 1997), both residing in Hung Yen Nam commune (Hung Nguyen district), and an unidentified person fell onto the road and were injured.

Immediately afterwards, locals took the three people on the motorbike to the hospital for emergency treatment, one of whom had a broken leg. The truck driver only suffered minor injuries and escaped by kicking open the window.

At the scene, the truck lying under the Tay 1 canal was severely damaged in the front. The front wheel of the truck damaged a concrete section of the Tay 1 canal. Many boxes of floor tiles on the truck bed were broken and scattered.

Upon receiving the news, the Traffic Police of Hung Nguyen District quickly arrived at the scene to investigate the cause of the accident.

At 3 p.m. on November 1, the truck owner hired a crane to lift the truck and its cargo out of the canal. According to the owner, the truck was carrying about 800 boxes of bricks from Thai Binh to Nghe An. The estimated damage from the broken bricks was more than 100 million VND.

The cause of the accident is currently being investigated by Hung Nguyen district police.
