Awarding 145 Vallet Scholarships
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of August 26, at Vinh University, the Science and Education Organization “Meeting Vietnam” held a ceremony to award Vallet scholarships to excellent students of Nghe An province for the 2014-2015 school year.
Also attending were Mr. Odon Vallet, Doctor of Law, Professor of Sorbonne University - Sponsor of Vallet Scholarship, Mr. Do Trinh Hue, Head of the Executive Board of Vallet Scholarship Fund in Vietnam. On the provincial side, there were representatives of the Department of Education and Training, the Provincial Association for Promotion of Education and representatives of a number of departments and branches. In particular, there were 144 students who were excellent students in the 2014 - 2015 school year from universities, colleges, intermediate schools and high schools located in the province.

The Vallet Scholarship was formed from the Scientific Conference “Meeting Vietnam” initiated by Professor Tran Thanh Van to award scholarships to young people who are high school students, university students, graduate students and excellent young researchers in Vietnam. Moved by the significance of this program, Professor Odon Vallet volunteered to donate a part of his inheritance to annually support excellent poor students in Vietnam. Implemented since 2001, after 13 trips to Vietnam, the Vallet Scholarship has awarded more than 21,500 scholarships to students and excellent young researchers in Vietnam with a total amount of over 100 billion VND.

Nghe An is one of the localities that regularly receive Vallet scholarships. In 2014 alone, 145 scholarships with a total value of 1.3 billion VND were awarded to students who won medals at international and regional Olympic competitions, valedictorians, salutatorians, students who won prizes at national competitions for excellent students, provincial excellent students, poor and orphaned students who have excelled in their studies, and students with outstanding achievements in their studies and research. The value of each scholarship for students is 8 million VND, for students and young researchers is 13 million VND.
Handing over the scholarships, Professor Vallet also expressed his gratitude for the efforts of the students in the 2013-2014 school year. At the same time, he hoped that with the tradition of studiousness, Nghe An students will have more achievements in the coming school years and the Vallet scholarship will continue to accompany and support poor students to excel, overcome difficulties and be good.
