Awarding honorary doctorate degrees to senior Lao leaders
On the afternoon of October 25 in the capital Vientiane, the National Economics University coordinated with the Lao Prime Minister's Office and the Lao National University to organize a ceremony to award honorary doctorates to senior leaders of the Lao Party, National Assembly and Government.
The award ceremony took place solemnly with the presence of many high-ranking leaders of Laos. The comrades receiving the honorary doctorate this time include: Thongsing Thammavong, Politburo member, Prime Minister; Pani Zathtou, Politburo member, Chairman of the National Assembly; Asang Laoly, Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister, and Senior Lieutenant General Duangchay Phichit, Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense.
Lao leaders have made particularly outstanding contributions to the development of education, training and science and technology in Vietnam in general and the National Economics University in particular, while contributing greatly to the development of the special friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
On behalf of the comrades receiving honorary doctorates this time, Prime Minister of the Lao PDR Thongsing Thamavong expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the cooperation and assistance of the Party, State of Vietnam and the National Economics University in the field of human resource training for the Lao PDR.
Prime Minister Thongsing Thamavong assessed this as a recognition and commendation of the achievements of the comrades receiving the certificates and hoped that the program would continue to be implemented in the future, contributing to nurturing and developing the special traditional friendship between the two Parties, two States and peoples of Laos and Vietnam.
This event is part of the important cooperation activities of the National Economics University in Laos on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Lao People's Democratic Republic (1977-2012) and the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1962-2012).
It is known that since the two countries established diplomatic relations, Hanoi National Economics University has trained hundreds of Lao students with undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees.
