Overview of the ceremony. |
Than Temple is located in Hamlet 4, Quynh Doi Commune, Quynh Luu District (Nghe An). The relic to Than is an ancient, precious architectural work built by the villagers to worship "Moc Loi linh ung thien than" and to worship the three founding ancestors Ho (Ho Kha, Ho Hong); Nguyen (Nguyen Thac) and Hoang (Hoang Khanh) who are angels and gods of fortune who have the merit of "protecting the country and protecting the people". Therefore, the people call it Than Temple. The temple worships angels and human gods. The relic also has another name, Quynh Doi village temple, because the land where the relic is located is called Quynh Doi village.
Up to now, the temple relic still preserves ancient and precious stone artifacts; horizontal lacquered boards, parallel sentences in Chinese characters. These are the original and most convincing historical data serving the research of characters as well as the research of local history, national history in the period when the characters lived, helping future generations have a deeper and more correct view of social life in feudal times centuries ago. The names of historical figures Ho Kha, Ho Hong, Hoang Khanh, Nguyen Thac need to be honored appropriately for what they have contributed.
The Temple of the Gods is a place to worship those who have contributed to the people and the country, a place for spiritual and cultural activities, and to strengthen the strong feelings of the people in the village. Hundreds of years ago, the Temple of the Gods had many rich and diverse ceremonial and festival activities. Especially in early spring, the village held the "Ky Phuc Festival" on the 9th and 10th of January. However, this festival has been lost since 1952. In 2012, the People's Committee of Quynh Doi commune coordinated with the Vietnam Institute of Culture and Arts to restore the Ky Phuc Festival.
Recognizing the above values, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has recognized Than Temple as a national relic. Than Temple is the 7th relic of Quynh Doi commune to be ranked at the national level.
