Nghe An Provincial Press Awards 2013

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 18, the Department of Information and Communications coordinated with the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department and Nghe An Provincial Journalists Association to organize the 89th Anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2014) and present the Nghe An Press Award 2013.

In the development process of the history of Vietnam's revolutionary press over the past 89 years, Nghe An has always been the center of revolutionary press of the whole country. Currently, the whole province has 9 press agencies, 37 representative agencies and permanent offices of central, sectoral and local newspapers in the area. The staff, reporters and technicians of more than 600 people work in local press agencies and 21 Radio - Television stations of districts, cities and towns, 487 grassroots radio stations.

Over the past time, the team of journalists in Nghe An has continuously grown in both quantity and quality. The press has also promptly informed and guided public opinion, well serving the political tasks of Party committees and authorities at all levels, contributing to Nghe An's steady development in the cause of innovation.

The 89th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day and the awarding ceremony of Nghe An Press Awards this year took place in the context of China placing the Haiyang Shiyou 981 drilling rig in Vietnam's continental shelf and exclusive economic zone. This is also an opportunity for journalists in Uncle Ho's homeland to add their voices to condemn China's wrongdoings and contribute to the struggle to protect the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland's seas and islands.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Journalists Association awarded the Medal for Journalism Career to comrades Tran Hong Chau - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and 16 members of the Vietnam Journalists Association of Nghe An province.

Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Thi Le Thanh awarded certificates of merit from the Vietnam Journalists Association to five groups and individuals for their outstanding achievements in the association's activities in 2013.

This is the 8th year Nghe An province has organized the Press Awards. In 2013, the Organizing Committee received nearly 170 works from 125 authors who are reporters and collaborators of 17 press agencies in the province and in the country, with 106 works in the categories of print, television, radio, electronic and photojournalism. Through the preliminary and final rounds. The Judging Council proposed that the Provincial People's Committee recognize 29 works that won the Nghe An Press Awards in 2013.

Three second prizes were awarded to the works: Investigative report "Journey to find the truth about the Hoang Thien Long cult" by author Nhat Lan - Viet Long (Nghe An Newspaper), "Horror of bleach" - (Vinh City Radio and Television Station) and "Duplicate insurance cards - Whose responsibility is it" by author Hien Chuong (Nghe An Radio and Television Station).

The first prize of Nghe An Journalism Award 2013 was awarded to the work "Around the case of law violation in Nghi Phuong" by the group of authors Duc Chuyen, Khanh Ly - Nghe An Newspaper and the work "Where do the birds go" by author Thanh Hung - Nghe An Radio and Television Station.

In particular, Nghe An province has 3 works that won high prizes at the 2013 National Press Awards. Nghe An Newspaper alone won 1 A prize and 1 Encouragement prize. The Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 3 works of groups of authors that won the 2013 National Press Awards, including: "Around the case of law violations in Nghi Phuong" by the group of authors Duc Chuyen, Khanh Ly - Nghe An Newspaper (A Prize) and "Vot Thung" by the group of authors Hoang Quyen - Truong Ca - Tran Minh - Nghe An Radio and Television Station (B Prize) and the work "Walking along the border" by the group of authors Thanh Chung - Thuc Anh - Tran Hai - Nghe An Newspaper won the Encouragement prize.
