Nghe An Science and Technology Innovation Award 2011

(Baonghean.vn) - Last night (January 3), at the Vietnam - Korea Industrial Technical Vocational College, the Department of Science and Technology, the People's Committee of Nghe An province organized the 2011 Nghe An Science and Technology Innovation Award Ceremony and psinging the movement of science and technology innovation in 2012.

The Nghe An Science and Technology Innovation Lotus Cup Award is held annually to honor research projects, technical innovations, new technologies, initiatives, and experiences with high application efficiency in real life and production, contributing to socio-economic development. After more than 10 years of launching and organizing, the award has contributed to arousing and motivating science and technology officials and managers to constantly innovate, improve and apply scientific advances and has increasingly created high prestige with a large number of scientists, teachers, researchers, entrepreneurs and attracted the attention of many classes of people in the province.

The 11th Nghe An Science and Technology Innovation Lotus Cup Award this year had many projects registered to participate in the award and through the review, there were 24 projects that won prizes, including: 01 special prize, 02 first prizes, 05 second prizes, 09 third prizes, 04 fourth prizes and 03 consolation prizes. The solutions and scientific projects reviewed and awarded this time are scientific and technical innovations, useful innovations in the fields of industrial production, information technology, agricultural and rural development, health, education and training, social sciences and humanities...

In particular, the two works that won first prize are typical: The Geography Book of Nghe An province by author Tran Kim Don in Vinh City - a 540-page work with many maps describing the detailed system of natural geography, population, and culture in localities in the province, helping students, researchers, and planners have the latest, specific, and general geographical information; The design of the Sugar Recovery Unit for a 20m3 boiler by author Nguyen Hoan - Song Con Sugarcane Joint Stock Company. The work has recovered lost sugar, making a profit of 350 million VND/year, contributing to increasing production volume, increasing revenue and income for workers, and at the same time minimizing environmental damage. This work can be widely applied in sugar factories with boilers.

The project that was awarded the special prize was the Chau Binh auxiliary dam and drainage canal project by engineer Nguyen Quang Hoa and his colleagues. The project has prevented 565 households from having to relocate, 138 hectares of residential land and 38 km of national highway from being flooded, and many schools and transformer stations of all kinds from being dismantled or moved. The project has saved the State budget an estimated 182 billion VND.

At the Award Ceremony, leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Committee and the Organizing Committee presented awards to 24 winning authors and groups of authors; and launched the 2012 science and technology innovation movement./.
