Awarding "I don't have to drop out of school" scholarships to poor children in 4 Central provinces

(Baonghean.vn) -This morning, November 28, in Vinh City, the Vietnam Children's Fund (VCF) held a ceremony to award the "I don't have to drop out of school" scholarship to poor, studious children at risk of dropping out of school in 4 Central provinces.

Attending the program were Ms. Nguyen Thi Doan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President, Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of the Vietnam BTTE Fund; Mr. Doan Mau Diep - Deputy Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs; Ms. Vu Anh Dao - Director of the Vietnam BTTE Fund; representatives of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Committee, Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh provinces and representatives of sponsors.On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Chairman of the Sponsoring Council of the Nghe An BTTE Fund; comrades in the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee and representatives of relevant departments and branches.

In the 2012-2013 school year, the Vietnam BTTE Fund Sponsoring Council launched two programs, “Going to School with You” and “You Don’t Have to Drop Out of School”. In response to this program, organizations, units, and philanthropists contributed over 1.9 billion VND to support poor students at risk of dropping out of school. Accordingly, 626 scholarships were awarded to poor children in 4 North Central provinces: Thanh Hoa (200 scholarships), Nghe An (166 scholarships), Ha Tinh (130 scholarships) and Quang Binh (140 scholarships). Each scholarship is worth 3 million VND.

The above scholarships are sponsored by the Pacific International Import-Export Company Limited; 36 Corporation; Kieu Le Construction Joint Stock Company; Thanh Thanh Cong Investment Joint Stock Company; Thien Tai Import-Export and Trade Transport Joint Stock Company and Ms. Kieu Thi Lien. Currently, the program “I don’t have to drop out of school” of the BTTEVN Fund is one of the 10 events voted as outstanding events of the Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs sector in 2012.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan affirmed: Starting from 1994 until now, after 18 years of implementing the "Education Support" program, the Vietnam Education Support Fund has granted nearly 35,500scholarships worth 23 billion VND for the following subjects: disabled children, children of Agent Orange victims, children of war invalids and martyrs, ethnic minority children, gifted and talented children, children in difficult circumstances across the country... to strive to study well. As the first year of launching the program "I don't have to drop out of school", the Vietnam BTTE Fund has received the support of sponsors. These scholarships will truly encourage and strengthen the confidence of the children's families, thereby increasing the number of children going to school in the Central region in the coming time. At the same time, we hope that philanthropists and sponsors will open their arms of kindness, continue to have practical activities to support poor students, and help them achieve their dreams.

In response to that concern, comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Chairman of the Provincial BTTE Fund Sponsorship Council thanked the attention of the Party and State leaders, the kindness of the benefactors for poor students in general and Nghe An children in particular. Currently, Nghe An is a province with many difficulties, the number of children in need of special support is still high, many of whom are from poor families and have to drop out of school. That material support and spiritual encouragement will contribute to helping them go to school and become useful citizens for the country.

On this occasion, the Provincial BTTE Fund received support from individuals, businesses, and philanthropists throughout the province with a total amount of nearly 21 billion VND.
