On the evening of September 25, at the Presidential Palace, President Truong Tan Sang presented the Ho Chi Minh Medal to Mr. Raymond Aubrac, a famous French revolutionary soldier in World War II and a close friend of the Vietnamese people. Mrs. Elizabeth Aubrac, daughter of Mr. Raymond Aubrac, on behalf of her family, received the noble award from the Party and State of Vietnam.

Mrs. Elizabeth Aubrac, daughter of Mr. Raymond Aubrac, on behalf of her family, received the noble award from the Party and State of Vietnam.

At the ceremony, President Truong Tan Sang expressed his joy at welcoming Mrs. Elizabeth Aubrac, daughter of Mr. Raymond Aubrac, to his second homeland. The President emphasized that Mr. Raymond Aubrac was a close friend of the Vietnamese people, and that his whole life was devoted to the Vietnamese revolution. The presence of Mrs. Elizabeth Aubrac at the medal ceremony affirmed her and her family's close affection for Vietnam.

Recalling the memories of Mr. Raymond Aubrac's life and work in Vietnam, the President affirmed that Mr. Raymond Aubrac not only contributed to the Vietnamese revolutionary cause but was also a loyal international friend of President Ho Chi Minh, the leader of the Vietnamese people.

Mr. Raymond Aubrac's revolutionary life began when he and his wife, Mrs. Lucie Aubrac, participated in founding the Southern Liberation Movement in 1940 against the occupation of Nazi Germany.

During the time President Ho Chi Minh went to France to attend the Fontainebleau Peace Conference in 1946, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Aubrac invited Uncle Ho and the negotiating team to stay. He went to Vietnam twice in 1955 and 1967 as a liaison to help find a peaceful solution to the war in Vietnam; Mr. Raymond Aubrac went to the US many times to meet with US Secretary of State H. Kissinger, UN Secretary General Kurt Waldheim and Pope Paul VI to organize meetings to find a peaceful solution to the war in Vietnam.

After the war ended, as a worker for the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), he persuaded the United States to provide files and maps of bombs and mines planted at the McNamara electronic fence at the 17th parallel to help Vietnam remove mines planted by the US military during the war.

With his contributions to the Vietnamese revolution, he was awarded many noble medals by our State and the awarding of the Ho Chi Minh Medal today once again recognizes the great contributions of Mr. Raymond Aubrac; it also demonstrates the tradition of remembering the source of the Vietnamese people. Although the war is far away, the Vietnamese people have not forgotten the help of friends from all over the world in the struggle for independence. Among the sincere friends of the Vietnamese people, there is Mr. Raymond Aubrac.

Mrs. Elizabeth Aubrac expressed her emotion to return to Vietnam, emphasizing the great affection that her family has for Vietnam. Thanking the President for presenting the noble award on behalf of the Party and State of Vietnam, Mrs. Elizabeth Aubrac emotionally recounted the deep memories attached to President Ho Chi Minh - her godfather.

She affirmed that the two words Vietnam have permeated her soul and thoughts since childhood. Although time and historical changes have changed, the good impressions that she and her family have of the country and people of Vietnam will always remain; she also affirmed that she will continue to contribute to a developed Vietnam, the second homeland of her and her family./.
