Awarding the "Defense of Quang Tri Ancient Citadel in 1972" commemorative medal.
(Baonghean)In anticipation of the 37th anniversary of the liberation of Southern Vietnam (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2012), on the morning of April 20, the Liaison Committee of the Quynh Luu Veterans Association organized a meeting and presented the "Defending Quang Tri Citadel" commemorative medal to comrades from the 95th Regiment, 325th Division, 2nd Corps.
In Quynh Luu District, 108 soldiers from the 95th Regiment participated in the 81-day and 81-night battle at Quang Tri Citadel. After the campaign ended, many soldiers sacrificed their lives on the battlefield, and many others returned to their hometowns bearing numerous injuries, becoming wounded veterans, sick soldiers, or suffering from Agent Orange exposure. Forty years later, only 50 of these comrades remain in the district. On this occasion, Quynh Luu District awarded these 50 comrades the Commemorative Medal for Defending Quang Tri Citadel in 1972. At the reunion, in a moving and warm atmosphere, the former soldiers reminisced about the arduous but heroic days on the Quang Tri Front. This was also an opportunity for the former soldiers to reconnect, socialize, encourage, and support each other in life.
