Awarding the 55-year Party membership badge to former Prime Minister Phan Van Khai
On the morning of December 8, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Government Office Party Committee solemnly held a ceremony to award the 55-year Party badge to comrade Phan Van Khai, former Politburo member and former Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, leaders of several ministries, branches and Ho Chi Minh City attended the ceremony.
Former Prime Minister Phan Van Khai was born on December 25, 1933 in Tan Thong Hoi commune, Cu Chi district, Ho Chi Minh City. He joined the revolution in 1947 at the age of 14 and joined the Communist Party of Vietnam on July 15, 1959.
After the country's reunification, he successively held the positions of Deputy Chairman, Chairman of the Planning Committee, Vice Chairman, then Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, and member of the 6th Party Central Committee.
In 1989, he was assigned to be Chairman of the State Planning Commission; in 1991, he was elected as a member of the Politburo, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister of the Government; and was elected to hold the position of Politburo member and Prime Minister from 1997 to 2006.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung respectfully presented the 55-year Party membership badge to former Prime Minister Phan Van Khai, marking a milestone in his career as a member of the Party and his lifelong dedication to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung warmly congratulated comrade Phan Van Khai on receiving the 55-year Party membership badge; this is the Party's recognition once again of his great contributions and merits to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung emphasized: Comrade Phan Van Khai, former Politburo member and former Prime Minister, participated in the revolution very early; assumed many important responsibilities in the leadership apparatus of the Party and State at the Central level as well as in Ho Chi Minh City. In recognition and appreciation of his merits, contributions and dedication, the Party and State have awarded him many noble medals, badges and awards.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung wished comrade Phan Van Khai good health and longevity, and that with his rich experience, he would continue to make contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and nation.
The Prime Minister also affirmed that the Government will continue to work with all its might and strive to fulfill the duties and tasks assigned by the Party, State and people, worthy of the trust and expectations of its revolutionary seniors.
Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Phan Van Khai expressed his honor to be awarded the 55-year Party badge - a noble award showing the recognition of the Party, State and people for him personally.
Comrade Phan Van Khai affirmed that he will keep his oath to the Party and, with his experience, will continue to make positive contributions to the cause of national construction and development.
