From October 9 to November 7, 2014, the PC46 Department of the Provincial Police coordinated with the Department of Science and Technology of Nghe An province to establish an inspection team (and established Project 114C) to investigate and catch 11 petrol stations (in the districts of Dien Chau, Quynh Luu, Yen Thanh, Anh Son, Tan Ky, Tuong Duong, Que Phong and Hoang Mai Town) using fake ICs to deceive customers, cutting 4-11% of the amount of petrol sold to customers. The method of installing fake ICs in the keyboards of petrol pumps is very sophisticated, with high technology, very difficult to distinguish from real ICs. The Project Team expanded the investigation, coordinated with other provinces and cities, arrested and urgently searched the related subjects, seized fake ICs and machines and equipment used to produce fake ICs for sale nationwide.

Project 114C has been successful in all aspects, especially meaningful in the fight against commercial fraud in the current period. For the first time nationwide, Department PC 46, Nghe An Police discovered a complete chain: manufacturing-trading-installing fake ICs attached to petrol pumps to deceive customers and make profits.
