Hospitalizations of children increase dramatically - Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital is overloaded
(Baonghean.vn) -The erratic weather with high temperatures has caused Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital to be overloaded with hospitalized pediatric patients in the early days of summer.
According to statistics from April 1 to May 2, the Outpatient Department received 15,836 pediatric patients (on average, the hospital examined 527 pediatric patients per day), of which 2,701 were inpatients (on average, more than 90 children were admitted for inpatient treatment per day), mostly focusing on diseases such as pneumonia, upper respiratory tract infections, diarrhea, atopic dermatitis, etc. Le Anh Tuan (7 months old), the son of Ms. Tran Thi Huong - Nam Cat commune (Nam Dan) was hospitalized with pneumonia, with complications of diarrhea. Or the case of Tran Thi Phuong, the son of Ms. Le Thi Anh - Anh Son district, was hospitalized for treatment because the child had a high fever of 39 degrees Celsius and diarrhea...
Mothers waiting to see their children
Doctor Pham Van Tu - Deputy Director of the Hospital said: The hospital overload situation during this time is due to the change of seasons, so there is an increase in diseases in children, even many cases of going beyond the line to see a doctor and receive inpatient treatment. According to the target of only 300 beds, the hospital has currently used up to 474 beds but still cannot solve the overload of hospital beds (currently the hospital has received more than 500 children for inpatient treatment, on average each bed has 2-3 children being treated). Departments such as Respiratory, Infectious, Neonatal, Resuscitation... are all departments that are in a state of overload.
Doctor Tu recommends that parents with young children should pay attention when the weather changes, the climate is erratic, the temperature increases, children are susceptible to infectious diseases such as viral fever, respiratory diseases, diarrhea, digestive disorders... Children need to eat hygienically, nourish properly to increase resistance, avoid dressing children too tightly causing them to sweat a lot, children should have a fever of 38.5 degrees or higher before giving them fever-reducing medicine. When children have a high fever, cough a lot accompanied by fatigue, lethargy, vomiting, they must be taken to the nearest medical facility for timely examination and treatment./.
