Child death in Quang Tri not related to Quinvaxem vaccination
On the evening of November 11, the Department of Preventive Medicine (Ministry of Health) said it had just received a report from the Quang Tri Province Preventive Medicine Center about a death after receiving the Quinvaxem vaccine.

Specifically: a 3-month-old male child (born on August 24, 2013), residing in A Doi commune, Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province, received the first dose of Quinvaxem vaccine at 9:15 a.m. on November 5, 2013 at the Commune Health Station. About 16 hours after the injection, the child developed a fever, was fussy, stopped breastfeeding and was transferred to Huong Hoa District Hospital. Immediately after that, the child was transferred to Quang Tri General Hospital on November 6, 2013 with a confirmed diagnosis of severe right-sided pneumonia. He was treated intensively but without results and died at 10:00 p.m. on November 10, 2013.
The health sector of Quang Tri province confirmed that this was a death case due to severe pneumonia in young children (the leading cause of death in children under 1 year old), not related to Quinvaxem vaccination.
