Child death in Quang Tri not related to Quinvaxem vaccination
On the evening of November 11, the Department of Preventive Medicine (Ministry of Health) said it had just received a report from the Quang Tri Province Preventive Medicine Center about a death after receiving the Quinvaxem vaccine.

Specifically: a 3-month-old male child (born on August 24, 2013), residing in A Doi commune, Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province, was vaccinated with the first dose of Quinvaxem vaccine at 9:15 a.m. on November 5, 2013 at the commune health station. About 16 hours after the vaccination, the child developed a fever, cried, refused to breastfeed and was transferred to Huong Hoa district hospital. Immediately after that, the child was transferred to Quang Tri province general hospital on November 6, 2013 with a confirmed diagnosis of severe right-sided pneumonia. He was treated intensively but without results and died at 10:00 p.m. on November 10, 2013.
The health sector of Quang Tri province confirmed that this was a death case due to severe pneumonia in young children (the leading cause of death in children under 1 year old), not related to Quinvaxem vaccination.
