Over 100m of Lam River embankment has a broken base

(Baonghean.vn) -The over 100m embankment along Lam River in Ngu Phong hamlet, Phuc Tho commune, Nghi Loc (about 14.5km from Ben Thuy bridge) is having a gap in its base.

Through observation, the embankment about 80cm high, about 20cm thick was completely exposed, at the same time the embankment foot had a frog-like gap about 20cm wide and cracked, separated from the Lam River road by a few centimeters. It was learned that when constructing the Lam River road, the embankment was completely underground. However, because the earthen bank protecting the embankment was not invested in planting trees to hold the soil, during the rainy and stormy season or when the tide rose, the Lam River waves eroded and washed away all the soil, causing the embankment to have a frog-like gap.

The embankment has cracked and separated from the road body (the person in the photo is Mr. Nguyen Thanh Giang).

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Giang, 70 years old (whose house is near the area where the embankment along the Lam River has a broken base): The embankment has been broken for a while. If there are no timely repair measures and investment in planting trees to hold the soil, this road along the Lam River will certainly sink in a while.

Many people in the area are also concerned about this incident. They said that Ngu Phong hamlet reported the incident of the embankment having a gaping base to the Commune People's Committee more than a month ago, but the authorities have not yet inspected it.
