The man escaped from Mexico's maximum security prison nearly a month ago.
The US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is releasing a series of information related to this "godfather". According to DEA head Chuck Rosenberg, Guzman is believed to be still hiding in Mexico, most likely in his home state of Sinaloa. However, Mr. Rosenberg did not rule out the possibility that this guy could be hiding anywhere, and said that US and Mexican authorities continue to cooperate closely to hunt down the subject.
The total reward for information leading to the capture of Mexico's most notorious drug lord is currently $8.8 million, after the Mexican government previously offered a $3.8 million reward.
On July 11, powerful drug lord Guzman escaped from Mexico's most heavily guarded Altiplano prison. Authorities believe Guzman escaped through a 1.5km tunnel in the shower area leading to a building under construction outside Altiplano prison.
Guzman is one of the most powerful crime lords in the international drug world, heading an organization that traffics billions of dollars worth of cocaine, marijuana and methamphetamine into the United States.
After being arrested in 1993, Guzman escaped from Puente Grande prison, near Guadalajara, in 2001. Media at the time reported that he escaped by hiding in a laundry basket. He was later recaptured in February 2014./.
