Young overseas intellectuals support building schools for Truong Sa
“When I read the open letter calling for donations to build a school for Truong Sa students by Ms. Truong My Hoa (former Vice President, currently President of Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund), I was deeply moved. Returning to the US, I talked to young people of Vietnamese origin, Vietnamese students studying here and received their enthusiastic support,” Nguyen Tuan Anh - President of the Vietnamese Youth and Student Association in California, emotionally told us in a phone call from California (USA).
Nguyen Tuan Anh is also one of the overseas Vietnamese delegates invited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to attend the 2nd Conference on Overseas Vietnamese recently held in Ho Chi Minh City. Tuan Anh confided that when he received the open letter from former Vice President Truong My Hoa, he understood that his responsibility was very special. Not only was it the trust of former leaders of the Party and State, but it was also the responsibility of overseas Vietnamese youth to support beloved Truong Sa. “While we are peacefully working, studying, living and playing, we know that three people, soldiers - including children - are struggling with storms in Truong Sa and the outpost islands of the Fatherland. The patriotic heart of any Vietnamese person aches when knowing that, in the places of the Fatherland's fences in the distant sea, sweat, tears and even blood have been shed for the peace we are enjoying”, the President of the Vietnamese Youth and Student Association in California emotionally recalled the appeal of Ms. Truong My Hoa.
Young Vietnamese people living and studying abroad on a happy day meeting and contributing to support the construction of schools for students in Truong Sa.
From that opening statement, Nguyen Anh Tuan called on Vietnamese youth and students.
Student Tang Quoc Cuong, currently studying Business Administration at City College of San Francisco, confided that when he participated in contributing to Tuong Sa students, Cuong thought very simply, that everyone had their own childhood, and everyone wanted that childhood to be beautiful, complete and warm. But somewhere in our country, there are still many children who have to face the situation every day."not enough food, not enough clothes", there are still meals without meat, or children in remote Truong Sa do not have the conditions to access letters...“As a lucky student who has the opportunity to live and study abroad, those images really make me think.”, Cuong said.
Like Cuong, young people in San Francisco join hands to support Truong Sa students. Some of them, due to circumstances far from their families, can only contribute a few US dollars, or even a few dozen cents, but above all, it is the heart and affection that the international students send to the children back home.“We all hope that the small gifts from young people far from home, together with the hearts of millions of overseas Vietnamese and people in the country, will soon help students in Truong Sa to study and live in a new school. There, the children will be raised to become citizens worthy of national traditions, continuing the work of protecting the sacred sovereignty of the nation.”, Vien Linh (studying Business Administration at City College of San Francisco) shared.
According to Nguyen Anh Tuan, President of the Vietnamese Youth and Student Association in California, after nearly 2 months of launching the fundraising program to support the construction of schools for Truong Sa students, the Vietnamese Youth and Student Association in California has so far raised nearly 30 million VND. This amount is being transferred to Vietnam.
