Implement programs to ensure reservoir safety and prevent natural disasters

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 27, in Cua Lo town, the General Department of Irrigation held a conference to deploy Circular 15/2015/TT-BNNPTNT, the Irrigation Sector Restructuring Project, the program to ensure reservoir safety and technical training on dike protection and natural disaster prevention in 2015.

Attending and opening the conference were comrade Hoang Van Thang - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. On the side of Nghe An province, there was comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

The issuance of Circular 15/2015 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is to ensure that the direction and management of the agriculture and rural development sector from the central to local levels is smooth and effective, while simultaneously implementing synchronous solutions to improve the sector's human resources, including the irrigation sector.

Conference overview

The country currently has about 15,000 water-using organizations through cooperatives, irrigation teams, or individuals operating under contracts. Therefore, the Conference focused on the goal of improving the efficiency of the irrigation sector, serving the restructuring of the agricultural sector towards increasing added value and sustainable development, meeting the development requirements of socio-economic sectors; improving the capacity to prevent natural disasters and respond to climate change, contributing to the modernization of agricultural and rural infrastructure and building new rural areas through the Irrigation Sector Restructuring Project.

On that basis, the conference also deployed programs to ensure reservoir safety and dike protection techniques, and prevent natural disasters in 2015.
