(Baonghean.vn) - On July 23, the Department of Health coordinated with the Provincial Center for Preventive Medicine to organize a conference to develop a plan to implement the Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign for children aged 1-14 in Nghe An province.

Attending and opening the Conference were Doctor Nguyen Xuan Hong - Deputy Director of the Department of Health; members of the provincial campaign steering committee; leaders of the People's Committees of districts, towns and medical units in the province.

Conference overview

In order to reduce the incidence of measles, rubella and the disease burden of congenital rubella syndrome, contribute to improving the physical health of Vietnamese children and contribute to the successful implementation of the objectives of the Expanded Immunization Project under the National Target Program for the period 2012-2015, the measles-rubella vaccination campaign was deployed in the province from October 1, 2014 to February 15, 2015. The number of subjects expected to be vaccinated in the whole province is 753,802 children, according to the plan divided into 3 phases, specifically: Phase 1 is for children from 1 to 5 years old; Phase 2 is for children from 6 to 10 years old; Phase 3 is for children from 11 to 14 years old. Remote and isolated areas can simultaneously vaccinate subjects from 1 to 14 years old in the same campaign and deploy in a rolling manner from schools, health stations to villages, hamlets... with the goal of achieving a rate of 95% of children vaccinated against measles-rubella and minimizing the number of subjects missed, especially children in remote, isolated, extremely disadvantaged and immigrant areas. Ensure the safety and quality of vaccination according to Circular No. 12/2014/TT.BYT issued on the management of vaccine use in vaccination.

At the Conference, opinions focused on ensuring safety for children during vaccination. Training for medical staff in each period, strengthening support for medical staff at district level, promoting propaganda work on vaccination... Speaking at the Conference, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hong - Deputy Director of the Department of Health, Deputy Steering Committee requested that districts develop detailed plans. Members of the Steering Committee need to coordinate closely with each other to effectively implement vaccination for children. It is necessary to do a good job of communication during the implementation process. Organize early training for related subjects, focusing on the team of teachers teaching children of vaccination age. Clearly define the responsibilities of all levels and sectors in the implementation. Focus on ensuring safety for children during the vaccination process.
