Implementing food safety work during Lunar New Year

(Baonghean.vn) -This morning, January 23, with the participation of the Central Inter-sectoral Inspection and Examination Team, the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to listen to the report on the implementation of food safety work during the 2013 Lunar New Year. Comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the meeting.

Pursuant to Plan No. 17/KH-BCĐTƯVSATTP dated December 28, 2012 of the Central Steering Committee for Food Safety, on January 15, 2013, the Provincial People's Committee established 3 inter-sectoral inspection teams to carry out inspection tasks on ensuring food safety during the 2013 Lunar New Year. In addition, the Provincial Inter-sectoral Steering Committee for Food Safety organized the implementation of "Peak Month on Food Safety for Tet 2013" with the theme: "Safe Meals" in the whole province. The goal is to mobilize all people, agencies, units, and social organizations to participate in propagating and improving knowledge on food safety for consumers; Inspecting food production and processing establishments, establishments selling products for the Tet market, and street food establishments; Enhance the role and responsibility of all levels, sectors and enterprises in enforcing food safety laws...

Up to now, propaganda work has been strongly deployed with the participation of authorities at all levels, functional agencies, mass organizations and mass media. The propaganda content focuses on the responsibilities of production and business establishments according to the provisions of the Law on Food Safety; announcements on newspapers and radio for consumers to choose food and establishments that do not ensure food safety... Regarding inspection work, up to now, 3 working groups have been conducting inspections for 10 days in all districts, cities and towns in the province, focusing on inspecting production and business establishments, food establishments, markets...

Deputy Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Health Ha Hao Hiep spoke at the meeting.

At the meeting, Mr. Ha Hao Hiep - Deputy Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Health, Head of the Central Interdisciplinary Inspection and Examination Team, reported on the increasing situation of food safety violations nationwide. At the same time, he said that the team will conduct food safety re-inspection in the province; will help the province inspect and test food samples suspected of containing toxic substances, many additives, etc.

At the meeting, comrade Dinh Viet Hong requested the Provincial Inter-sectoral Steering Committee on Food Safety to provide good support for the Central Inspection Team to carry out its tasks. On January 23-24, 2013, the Central Inspection Team will inspect a number of establishments and markets in the province.
