Implementing the plan to implement the National Program on Occupational Safety and Hygiene in 2012

(Baonghean.vn) - Today, March 10, the Steering Committee of the National Program on Labor Safety and Hygiene - Nghe An Provincial People's Committee held a conference to summarize the national program on labor safety and hygiene in 2011 and deploy tasks in 2012. Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee chaired the conference.



Overview of the meeting

The Steering Committee's report stated: 2011 was the first year of implementing the national program on occupational safety and hygiene, phase 2 (2011-2015). The Provincial Steering Committee proactively developed a plan to effectively implement the program in accordance with the program's content and objectives; promoted propaganda on occupational safety and hygiene, fire prevention and fighting; inspected the implementation of occupational safety and hygiene laws for agencies, units and enterprises in the area. As a result, compared to 2010, the number of occupational accidents in the year decreased by 23% (49/63 cases), the number of seriously injured people decreased by 22% (18/23 people).

At the conference, the Provincial Steering Committee assessed the achievements, remaining issues, reviewed the responsibilities of members in performing tasks in 2011 and proposed a plan to implement the national program on labor safety and labor hygiene in 2012 as well as specific measures. The program's goals set for 2012 are: Reduce the frequency of fatal labor by 5%, especially in the industries and fields of mineral exploitation, construction, electricity, and chemical production; Increase 5% of establishments organizing periodic health check-ups for workers, increase 5% of workers examined and detected with occupational diseases, increase 3% of establishments monitored for the working environment; 100% of workers confirmed to have suffered from work-related accidents and occupational diseases are provided with benefits and health care...

In his concluding remarks at the conference, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong pointed out the current alarming situation of occupational safety and hygiene in the province, especially the lack of strict awareness of occupational safety. He requested members of the Steering Committee and relevant departments and agencies to continue promoting propaganda and training on the content, purpose and significance of occupational safety and hygiene - fire prevention and fighting to all levels of sectors, production and business establishments, especially employers and employees; Strengthen the state management role of functional sectors, members of the Steering Committee, heads of urban districts; Strengthen investigation and survey of occupational safety, inspection, and resolutely handle violations; Implement the 14th occupational safety and hygiene, fire prevention and fighting week in the locality practically and effectively./.
