Many officials representing the state government, city governments, consular delegations, local friends, representatives of Vietnamese people and students studying in the state attended.
Speaking at the ceremony, Consul General Le Viet Duyen said Vietnam currently has nearly 20 world heritage sites, including seven world cultural and natural heritage sites, and one global geopark recognized by UNESCO.
Many places in Vietnam have become familiar to international tourists, such as Ha Long, Nha Trang, Mui Ne, Sa Pa. These beautiful landscapes and places represent a beautiful Vietnam, with friendly, hospitable, peace-loving Vietnamese people.
The Consul General stressed that those beautiful images and peaceful lives could be threatened if the peaceful, secure and stable environment of the Asia-Pacific region is not maintained and guaranteed.
The tense developments taking place in the East Sea due to China's illegal placement of the Haiyang Shiyou 981 drilling rig in Vietnam's exclusive economic zone and continental shelf not only threaten peace, security and stability in the region but also seriously threaten the security and safety of the world's most important shipping route in the East Sea, through which more than half of Australia's annual exports pass.
Representing the State Government, Mr. Mike Nahan, Minister of Treasury, Energy, Citizenship and Multi-Ethnic Interests, highly appreciated the activities to introduce Vietnamese culture in the city. He said that he had had interesting visits throughout the length of Vietnam, and was very impressed with the beautiful landscapes, cultural traditions, history of the country, the friendliness and hospitality of the Vietnamese people.
He expressed his hope that the relationship between the people of Vietnam and Australia in general, and the state of Western Australia in particular, will develop even stronger, for the benefit of the people of the two countries.
Head of the Consular Mission in Perth, Mr. Siamsuri, Consul General of Indonesia, expressed ASEAN's support for Vietnam in general, and appreciated the promotional activities about ASEAN member countries in Western Australia in particular.
The opening ceremony featured the photography works of artist Michael Vander Zanden, Director of Classic Studio photography, who made an impressive trip to the Dong Van Karst Plateau in late 2013.
The artist's photos bring a vivid picture of the beautiful scenery and life of people on the Stone Plateau through the perspective of an Australian photographer.
In addition, the exhibition also displays documentary photos of China illegally placing the Haiyang Shiyou 981 drilling rig in violation of Vietnam's exclusive economic zone and continental shelf, scenes of Chinese ships using water cannons to attack Vietnamese official ships, and scenes of fishing boat DNA 90152 being sunk by a Chinese ship.
The exhibition will last until July 11./.
