Fine Arts Exhibition on Thang Long - Hanoi - a thousand years of culture

In the jubilant and excited atmosphere of the people of the Capital and the whole country celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital, on the afternoon of October 8, the Hanoi Fine Arts Association officially opened the 2014 Capital Fine Arts Exhibition.

318 works by 318 authors participating in the exhibition demonstrated new vitality, high aesthetics, and the unique identity of the thousand-year-old cultural land of Thang Long-Hanoi.

Looking back over the past 60 years, the Capital's Fine Arts has made many developments, from the early days when there were only a few prominent artists such as Bui Xuan Phai, Pham Viet Song, Nguyen Quang Phong, Pham Gia Giang... and many other "senior" artists.

Up to now, there have been over 500 artists who are members, actively working with a creative movement that has developed strongly in both breadth and depth. Thereby, affirming the author's style as well as the uniqueness of Hanoi Fine Arts, creating a "Hanoi painting style" that is elegant and graceful, pure and luxurious.

Each work in the exhibition has its own unique language, bearing the mark of each author. The works represent many aspects of daily life and beautiful landscapes of the thousand-year-old capital; recreating the nostalgic customs, practices and rituals of a glorious past, bringing viewers an optimistic atmosphere of the new era.

Chairman of the Hanoi Fine Arts Association, artist Pham Kim Binh, said this year's exhibition demonstrated the enthusiastic participation and investment of Hanoi artists' efforts and talents in the capital's visual arts.

318 works, including paintings, graphics, and sculptures, were created by the authors on a variety of materials such as lacquer, oil, silk, wood carving, tempera, composite, acrylic, and synthetic materials.

In addition to the works of the 2014 Capital Fine Arts Exhibition, there are also many works by artists who have won the Capital Fine Arts Awards over the years.

In particular, the exhibition displayed 22 works by visual artists from Seoul, South Korea, sent to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital.

Through their works, Korean artists have expressed their close friendship with the people and artists of the capital. This is an artistic bridge for artists of the two countries to meet, exchange, learn and understand each other.

The exhibition will end on October 18./.
