Exhibition "Heroic Army - Glorious Tradition"

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA), the 70th anniversary of the General Department of Politics of the VPA, and the 25th anniversary of the National Defense Day, on the afternoon of December 16, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Military History Museum opened the thematic exhibition "Heroic Army - Glorious Tradition". General Phung Quang Thanh, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense attended and cut the ribbon to open the exhibition.

With more than 300 images, documents and artifacts, the exhibition outlines the 70-year journey of building, fighting and growing of the Vietnam People's Army. Under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, our army, together with the entire people, successfully carried out two resistance wars against the French colonialists and the invading American imperialists, gaining independence for the nation.

The exhibition consists of four parts: The attention of the Party, the State, and President Ho Chi Minh to the army; The Vietnam People's Army was born with the entire people in the resistance war against the French colonialists (1945-1954); The Vietnam People's Army in the resistance war against the US to save the country (1954-1975); The Vietnam People's Army in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland (1975-2014).

The above contents are presented through typical images and artifacts collected and preserved at the Vietnam Military History Museum over the past many years. In particular, the exhibition also displays a collection of noble awards that the Party and State have bestowed upon the Vietnam People's Army over the past 70 years, including 5 Gold Star Medals; President Ho Chi Minh's Decree on the establishment of the Vietnam National Army in May 1945; the bamboo hat of hero Tran Can, who planted the flag on the Him Lam base in the opening battle of the Dien Bien Phu campaign; the garrison shirt worn by hero and martyr Cu Chinh Lan in the Giang Mo, Hoa Binh battle in December 1951...

The bamboo hat of hero Tran Can and the tunic of hero and martyr Cu Chinh Lan are on display at the exhibition.

The exhibition is an opportunity to review the glorious tradition, good nature and heroic feats of arms of the Vietnam People's Army, thereby arousing patriotism and pride in the heroic Vietnam People's Army; raising awareness and sense of responsibility in building a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, gradually modernized People's Army, successfully completing all tasks.
