Exhibition 'Following the General's Footsteps' will be held in Nghe An

(Baonghean.vn) - The exhibition "Following the General's Footsteps" will open on March 13, 2024 at Nghe An Museum, promising to bring the public and visitors from near and far useful information and interesting experiences about the life of General Vo Nguyen Giap.

To practically celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024); the 113th birthday of General Vo Nguyen Giap (1911-2024); the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) and the 35th anniversary of National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024), Nghe An Museum in collaboration with the Vietnam Women's Museum and teacher, journalist, poet Nguyen Thi My Dung organized the exhibition "Following the General's Footsteps".

The exhibition aims to introduce to the public a part of the story about the General through poems and historical songs by teacher, journalist and poet Nguyen Thi My Dung, along with historical images and everyday images associated with the talented general, a legendary great man of the Vietnam People's Army - General Vo Nguyen Giap.

With the message: "General Vo Nguyen Giap, the outstanding Marshal of the nation but extremely simple, close, emotional, always lives forever in the hearts of the people, the exhibition uses 110 poems and ballads composed by teacher, poet, journalist Nguyen Thi My Dung to recreate the milestones of the historic victory of Dien Bien Phu as well as the daily life of Commander-in-Chief Vo Nguyen Giap and the people's affection for the legendary general, especially after the General "passed away".

The content of the exhibition “Following the General’s Footsteps” includes 3 themes: Making the historic victory of Dien Bien Phu; The General in the hearts of the people and Shining forever.

The first topic introduces the whole picture of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign under the talented leadership of General Vo Nguyen Giap, vividly recreated through simple poems, songs and priceless, emotional historical documentary photos.

The second theme introduces simple, peaceful moments in the daily life of General Vo Nguyen Giap. Thereby, it shows the love, respect and admiration of the General for soldiers on all fronts and the love of the people and comrades for the heroic General.

The third theme is the affirmation of the Vietnamese people's love and admiration for General Vo Nguyen Giap through emotional moments during the National Funeral, sending the General back to his hometown of Quang Binh...

With the connection between documentary images and poetry, the exhibition is a re-enactment of the milestones of the historic Dien Bien Phu victory as well as the simple daily life of the Commander-in-Chief of the Vietnam People's Army. At the same time, it shows the love, gratitude, respect and admiration of teacher, journalist and poet Nguyen Thi My Dung in particular and of the Vietnamese people in general for the General's contributions to the country and the nation.

The exhibition “Following the General’s Footsteps” was held in Nghe An, opening on March 13, 2024 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the opening of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, the army and people of Nghe An made great contributions to this campaign. Moreover, General Vo Nguyen Giap’s life was closely associated with the land and people of Nghe An, he was an excellent student of President Ho Chi Minh, and the son-in-law of this hometown. Currently, preparations for the opening of the exhibition are being urgently carried out to best serve the public.

MS. PHAN THI HA LONG - DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF NGHE AN MUSEUM

Teacher, journalist, poet Nguyen Thi My Dung was born in 1939 in Duc Tho, Ha Tinh. In 1961, after graduating from the Faculty of Literature, Vinh Pedagogical University, she worked at Hai Hau High School (Nam Dinh), then transferred to Nguyen Trai High School, Doan Ket High School (Hanoi). She was also a member of the Administrative Committee of Hai Hau District, Nam Dinh; then a director of the Department of High School, Ministry of Education (now the Ministry of Education and Training).

For more than 30 years as a writer, she has written many articles and poems about General Vo Nguyen Giap - a general with great strategy and courage on the battlefield but extremely simple and warm in daily life. With deep admiration and gratitude for the General, she published the book "Gratitude to the General - A Good Man". In particular, teacher, journalist, poet Nguyen Thi My Dung has devoted her heart and mind to composing hundreds of poems - ballads "Following the General's Footprints" to join the gratitude and admiration of all Vietnamese people and international friends for General Vo Nguyen Giap - the legendary general.
