More than 70 propaganda paintings painted between 1950 and 1980 realistically depict working life... The propaganda painting exhibition "A revolutionary spirit" opened on the evening of January 8 at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum in Hanoi.

At the exhibition, viewers have the opportunity to look back at the simple yet touching brushstrokes, a type of "combat" painting of our country during the years of fighting against the French and the Americans.

More than 70 propaganda paintings and stamp designs by Vietnamese artists from 1950 to 1980 were recreated on a large scale, realistically depicting the life of working, producing, fighting, the image of Vietnamese women, Uncle Ho's soldiers... along with calls, encouragement, and propaganda in each specific situation.

Painter Luong Xuan Doan, Vice President of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, said: “Vietnamese propaganda paintings have had their glorious mission, during the period when the Vietnamese people went through two resistance wars against the French and the Americans. I think this is a valuable collection, because each painting was reprinted and enlarged, not redrawn. Therefore, we can see again the hasty, sketchy brushstrokes, many areas of color that were repainted over and over again… That is what makes viewers very emotional.”

The collection of propaganda paintings “A revolutionary spirit” is introduced by collector Dominic Scriven - Ho Chi Minh City. The exhibition is open from January 8 to 22./.
