Known as the person who can make the difference between a 10-month-old child and a 1-year-old child through her drawings and can describe any characteristics of a child without a model, the art exhibition "Iwasaki Chihiro and Vietnam" by the late artist Iwasaki Chihiro will help the public of the capital see that.

Introducing 40 works, of which 32 are exhibited for the first time in Vietnam with three main themes that the female artist is very fond of: children, flowers and picture books, the exhibition will take place from September 28 to October 27 at the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam, 27 Quang Trung, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi.

“Sunflowers and Baby” (1971) - Painting by Iwasaki Chihiro

Chihiro is famous for her unique combination of oriental ink wash painting and western watercolor painting. The children in her paintings appear lively, full of emotions and inner expressions.

Chihiro loved to draw children and flowers. She grew many kinds of flowers in her garden, which bloomed all year round and served as inspiration for her works.

Throughout her career, Chihiro drew about 40 picture books about Japanese fairy tales and Andersen's fairy tales, children's daily lives, babies and especially she won an award for the book "Children in the Flames of War."

Decades ago, despite her illness, she was still worried about the war in Vietnam. As someone who had experienced the brutality of war, Chihiro had always wished for happiness and peace for children all her life.

That was crystallized in her saying “Wish for Vietnamese children, Japanese children and children around the world to live in peace and happiness” in the 1970s.
