Painting exhibition "Minute of Similarity"
The painting exhibition “Minute of Similarity” by author Tran Nu Vuong Linh takes place from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm from October 26 to November 3, 2013 at the Vietnamese Cultural Space, 16 Le Thai To, Hanoi.
This is Vuong Linh's second art project to raise funds for disabled and seriously ill children. What is quite special is that the owner of this exhibition is not a painter and has never studied painting formally. More specifically, this girl did not expect to be famous but only for the purpose of charity. Currently, Vuong Linh is building and developing the Tam Thanh Personal Charity Organization, with the function of organizing art projects, from which to carry out real charity activities for poor children.
Previously, in June 2013, the painting exhibition “Seasons in the Eyes” by Vuong Linh, after 2 years of preparation, was held at the Vietnam Women’s Museum with 60 colorful oil paintings, exuding a dreamy innocence, bringing viewers back to their childhood and the world of fairy tales. This time, the project “Similar Minute” by Vuong Linh was only created in 5 months. The paintings of “Similar Minute” were created by Vuong Linh using 4 materials: oil paint, acrylic, watercolor and oil wax. The exhibition is all works that have never been published.
Vuong Linh shared: “After “Season in the Eyes” ended, I did charity work and started my next project. Before, I only painted with oil pastels, so with this project, I tried other materials. The paintings in the exhibition “Minutes of Similarity” are all paintings I have painted in the past 5 months. 5 months is not a long time, but it contains a period of time when I lived and took my first steps in creating with new materials. For example, the feeling of completing an oil painting for the first time... it will definitely be different from the 7th, 8th oil paintings...”.
In the last project, the girls in Linh's paintings all had their eyes closed and no mouths. Vuong Linh explained that having closed eyes meant things that could not be seen with the naked eye, and having no mouth meant sacred things that could not be expressed in words. This time, she let her characters open their eyes and have mouths, like an awakening, a new perspective, a dream, a dream that everyone could see with their own eyes and speak with their own voice.
In the last exhibition, Linh sold 50 million VND worth of paintings, she only left 10 million VND for this project, the rest Linh used to help children at Nguyen Dinh Chieu School and disabled children in Thach That district, Hanoi./.
