Dismantling a sophisticated, large-scale counterfeiting ring
The subjects confessed that they released on average more than 30 fake diplomas to the market each month, each set costing from 5 to 7 million VND.
Hoang Mai District Police (Hanoi) has just dismantled the largest and most sophisticated ring of counterfeit diplomas ever. The six suspects arrested in the ring include: Nguyen Manh Thang, the leader of the organization that forged seals and documents; Nguyen Van Canh, Hoang Anh Tung, Nguyen Van Huy, Hoang Anh Quang, and Cao Thi Ngoc Anh, all temporarily residing in Hanoi.

At the scene, the authorities seized nearly 100 seals of various types from universities in Hanoi, along with more than 1,000 fake diplomas, blanks and counterfeiting equipment. The diplomas were sophisticatedly counterfeited with everything from cross-stamps, embossed seals to watermarks on paper.

The subjects confessed that they released on average more than 30 fake diplomas to the market each month, each set costing from 5 to 7 million VND. To avoid detection, the subjects also forged all records from transcripts, school records... of students from admission to graduation. At the same time, they divided the network into many links: from groups looking for customers, to groups specializing in printing, groups forging seals, signatures... all separate, not knowing each other... this facility has been operating for 6 months.
