At 1:30 a.m. on December 21, 2011, the Drug Crime Investigation Police force coordinated with Traffic Police Team 1-48 of Nghe An Police to break up Project 112S, destroying a ring transporting and illegally trading marijuana from Laos to Vietnam for consumption, arresting 5 subjects including: Le Hong Lien, born in 1994, residing in Dien Yen commune, Dien Chau district; Nguyen Van Tu, born in 1994, residing in Do Thanh, Yen Thanh; Ngo Van Phuong, born in 1990, residing in Do Thanh, Yen Thanh; Tran Hong Thanh, born in 1986, residing in Dien Hong commune, Dien Chau and Tran Xuan Thanh, born in 1971, residing in Dien Hong commune, Dien Chau district.
5 subjects with evidence of 9 marijuana cakes
Seized evidence included 9 marijuana cakes (about 10kg), 2 motorbikes, 4 mobile phones and some other related documents.
At the police investigation agency, the subjects bowed their heads and confessed their crimes. Tran Xuan Thanh is a prominent subject among drug traffickers in the area. As a freelance worker, Thanh often went to Laos to do business and trade. Every time he returned home, Thanh brought a large amount of marijuana back to trade. With the strong support of his juniors - Lien was the trader, Tu was the transporter, Thanh and Phuong participated in the buying and selling activities - Thanh's shipments were successful many times. Among them, Lien once delivered over 1 kg of goods to a subject in Vinh. Notably, according to the initial statement, about a week ago, this group of subjects sold about 6 pounds of marijuana to a subject in Hanoi directly to Nghe An.
