Dismantling two gangs of stealing goods from containers

On June 12, the Board of Directors of Binh Duong Provincial Police announced that after many months of investigation, the investigation agency had dismantled two gangs specializing in "picking the guts" of containers to steal goods worth tens of billions of dong, arresting dozens of suspects.

During the investigation, the Investigation Police Agency - Thuan An Town Police discovered up to 20 theft cases with goods worth up to 20 billion VND occurring in the area.

Taking advantage of his profession as a container driver for Do Hong Hai Limited Liability Company, Do Thanh Hieu (29 years old, residing in Binh Phuoc province) was assigned to drive a container transporting 460 boxes of polyester fiber of Thanh Cong Textile Joint Stock Company from Trang Bang Industrial Park (Tay Ninh province) to Cat Lai port (District 2, Ho Chi Minh City) to complete export customs procedures.

On the way, Hieu called his accomplices and drove into a parking lot in Vinh Phu ward, Thuan An town, Binh Duong province to break the seal of the container and steal 70 boxes of polyester fiber worth over 182 million VND. While the gang was unloading the goods, they were discovered and arrested by the police. Through investigation, so far, this ring has had seven subjects urgently arrested by the police.

Also related to container theft, the Investigation Police Agency - Binh Duong Police previously dismantled a ring led by Nguyen Hoai Han (alias Quoc, born in 1980, residing in Binh Phu commune, Chau Phu district, An Giang province). This ring operates very sophisticatedly, the subjects falsify driver records, bring people to work at container transport companies, then while transporting goods, organize theft and robbery of goods in containers.

Through investigation, the subjects have organized a network of "pickpocketing" goods in container trucks very professionally for a long time. To date, over 30 cases of robbery of goods in trucks and containers (cashew nuts, wood, fabric, chemicals...) in the areas of Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City have been exposed by the police and 14 subjects have been arrested.

The investigation into the destruction of container theft gangs is being continued by Binh Duong Provincial Police to expand to other provinces and cities in the Southeast region./.
