Dismantling a group making fake MSG
Thuy and Ly bought MSG with unknown ingredients, packaged it into products of major companies, and sold it at the market.
More than 1.4 tons of fake MSG were discovered at the suspects' homes.
On the afternoon of January 17, information from Ha Tinh City Police said that the unit had just caught Pham Thi Thuy (born in 1975) and Vo Thi Ly (born in 1969), both residing in Thach Trung Commune (Ha Tinh City) for producing and trading fake MSG.
While monitoring the situation in the Ha Tinh City market, the City Police discovered a number of individuals regularly trading in fake MSG of major brands such as Ajinomoto, Miwon, Saji... in large quantities.
After a period of investigation and surveillance, Ha Tinh City Police caught Pham Thi Thuy (born in 1975) and Vo Thi Ly (born in 1969), both residing in Thach Trung commune, red-handed for producing and trading fake MSG.
Through inspection, the authorities seized 40 packages of fake Saji brand MSG of VEDAN Vietnam at the subjects' kiosk.
During the search of the suspects' homes, the authorities also seized 58 bags of raw materials used to produce fake MSG, totaling 1.45 tons, with Chinese characters printed on the packaging; 2 packaging machines, 255 packages labeled Saji, Ajinomoto, Miwon, etc.
The subjects confessed to having been trading in fake MSG since 2015. MSG of unknown origin was purchased from Vinh city, packaged into products of major companies, and sold at the market in Ha Tinh city.
