Cockfighting ring busted, 54 suspects arrested

On February 20, the Department of Investigation Police on Social Order Crimes (PC45) of Tien Giang Provincial Police said that this unit coordinated with the Mobile Police Department and Go Cong Dong District Police to destroy a cockfighting arena in a cherry garden in Ba Lanh Hamlet, Tan Dong Commune, Go Cong Dong District, arresting 54 subjects who were engrossed in gambling by cockfighting for money.

At around 1:10 p.m. the same day, detectives suddenly raided the cherry plantation of Mr. Ho Van Mau, residing in Ba Lanh Hamlet, Tan Dong Commune, Go Cong Dong District (Tien Giang), and arrested 54 people who were gambling on cockfighting.

Authorities seized 3 pairs of iron spurs, 1 5kg scale, 43 cell phones, 17 motorbikes, 102 rolls of tape, 3 chickens and nearly 137 million VND in cash.

This cockfighting arena was organized by Mai Dang Khoa (alias Soc, 26 years old), residing in Gia Tren hamlet, Kieng Phuoc commune, Go Cong Dong district.

The cockfighting arena is located deep in a cherry garden and is always guarded from a distance. According to the initial statements of the subjects, each match costs 2 million VND.

The case is currently being investigated by the Department of Investigation Police on Social Order Crimes of Tien Giang Police in coordination with Go Cong Dong District Police to clarify and handle according to the law./.
