According to documents, North Korea prohibits parents from using the current leader's name on their child's birth certificate. The use of the name "Jong Un" is also prohibited.

South Korean news agency commented that these regulations are not new in North Korea.

Yonhap added that for many years, North Korean people have not been allowed to use the two names "Kim Il Sung" and "Kim Jong-il".

In January 2011, then-North Korean leader Kim Jong-il issued a decree requiring people with the same name as him to "voluntarily" change their names.
